The quality of grain haylage in mixed crops of blue lupine with oat
The study evaluated the results of using technology to produce high-quality green mass in a combination of blue lupine of the Belozerny 110 variety (with a seeding rate of about 1.2 million seeds/ha) and oat of various varieties (Borets, Kirovets, Vyatsky), differing in maturity. | Summary: | The study evaluated the results of using technology to produce high-quality green mass in a combination of blue lupine of the Belozerny 110 variety (with a seeding rate of about 1.2 million seeds/ha) and oat of various varieties (Borets, Kirovets, Vyatsky), differing in maturity. When combining lupine with Borets oat, with a sowing rate of 3.5 million plants per hectare, a record yield of 590.4 c/ha was achieved, of which 288 c was for lupine and 302 c was for oat. At the same time, there was a tendency to increase the proportion of lupine in the total weight with a decrease in the oat sowing rate. The biochemical analysis of the resulting mixture showed the superiority of its nutritional value, especially for variants with “Lupin Belozerny 110” and oat varieties. The maximum content of digestible pro- tein (125.88 g/kg) was recorded when sowing lupine in the amount of 1.5 million seeds per hectare with Borets oat. A similar pattern was observed for other oat varieties: Kirovets, Vyatsky, and Komes. An increase in the concentration of digestible protein in the mixture from 143.97 g to 177.51 g per feed unit (EFU) during the transition from the combination of “Lupin – Komes Oat” to “Lupin – Borets Oat” highlights a significant improve- ment in the nutritional properties of this combination. |
