Description
Summary:Written by L.S. Mercier, L’An deux mille quatre cent quarante. Rêve s’il en fût jamais (1771) takes the reader to a distant future in a city (Paris) which accumulates all the advantages: customs, religion, culture, political life, economy… are perfect, so that the life is good for everybody. Typical application of the Enlightenment philosophy, the book creates a new literary style: uchronia. L.S. Mercier discovers a third infinity – time. Thanks to it, he renews the way to write utopia.
