description Women throughout the globe face multiple vulnerabilities. This is due to the popular perception prevailing in the society which sees women as vulnerable or inferior sex. Since times immemorial women have been victims of patriarchy in various forms. Though it is considered that with the coming of 21st century women have become empowered. However, they are still victims and face exploitation both in public and private space. The SDG focuses on ending violence against women and girls by 2030. This study delves into a comprehensive analysis of crimes targeting women across various States and union territories in India spanning a decade, from 2012 to 2021. The research draws upon secondary data sourced from the National Crime Record Bureau. These offenses have been segregated into three main categories: sexual crimes, domestic/dowry-related offenses and other criminal acts. To grasp the patterns, averages over five-year periods have been computed. Additionally, crime intensity has been assessed to gain a holistic view of the situation, complemented by the creation of maps using ARC GIS.
