description The subject of this study revolves around the role of civil society in protecting the environment and achieving sustainable development that has preoccupied many scholars and writers, as this topic has not received its right to adequate attention and research. With the development of human life, the need arose to discover the importance of the natural resources that were endowed to him to be used to satisfy his necessary needs, just as the human relationship with the environment evolved greatly and rapidly as a result of direct interaction with them, so the more a person progresses, the more problems will arise. Its primary raw form to the stage of converting resources into a usable form, especially in the industrial field, has increased pressure on the environment by increasing the goals it seeks to achieve from economic development .The developing world has lost nearly half a century the erroneous belief that development is about creating and multiplying material capital. Another half a century does not have to be lost in the belief that sustainable human development relates to natural capital. University experts, specialists, policymakers and United Nations officials, no matter how their intentions are clear and their ideas are common, they cannot prevent environmental degradation, for example. Rather, the only thing that can stop it is the ability of people to protect and defend their local environment against their own actions and those of external people. This means putting people first, by recognizing the importance of expanding their options and abilities. There is a need to integrate sustainable development and human development in a way that strengthens institutions at the local and national levels.
