This study aims to explore the influence of work-life balance (WLB) and job satisfaction on employee performance, with attention to the role of work motivation as a mediating variable in a government context. This research uses a quantitative approach, by collecting primary data through questionnaires distributed directly. Respondents of this study amounted to 70 employees of the Serang District Ministry of Religion Office, to test the relationship between variables using PLS-SEM version 4.0. The empirical evidence indicates that WLB does not exert a direct or indirect impact on employee performance. In contrast, job satisfaction plays a significant role in influencing work motivation, which in turn has a favorable effect on the enhancement of employee performance. Moreover, work motivation may serve as a mediating factor in the relationship between job satisfaction and performance, yet it does not fulfill a similar mediating role between WLB and performance. The results of this study highlight the urgency of implementing human resource management strategies that focus on performance improvement, in order to build a more motivated and productive workforce. Ultimately, this can support public sector efficiency and contribute to broader economic growth.
