description The role of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in bone defect repair and bone regeneration has been extensively studied. Much evidence suggests that effective endogenous bone regeneration requires coordination of the immune system. The interaction between immune cells and BMSCs is crucial to promoting bone formation in the healing of bone defects. In recent years, it has been found that a variety of immune cells promote osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs through the release of cytokines and signals. It is beneficial to bone defect repair and bone regeneration, and becomes a new therapeutic target for bone defect repair. Therefore, this article reviews the research status of the osteogenic effect of immune cells on BMSCs and related mechanisms.
