Summary:Micro hydro power plant is a small-scale power plant which is suitable used in remote and isolated rural areas located in mountainous regions that have great potential for water but no electricity. In West Sumatra alone, this power plant has considerable potential to be built. This potential power brings consequently the fabrication technology mastery especially by the cross-flow turbine workshops surrounding. Based on the surveys that have been conducted generally show that the fabrication workshops surrounding produce a low production volume of the turbine components manually using a low technology level. Because of future projection relating with this considerable potential, then it takes an appropriate fabrication technology solution in form of a jig and fixture for fabricating disc runner, one of the important assemblies in cross-flow turbine. By using this jig and fixture, some deficit in fabrication such as a profile repeatability and low accuracy in manual processes can be overcome. In addition, plate marking operations and additional and rework activities for each step of the processes can be reduced or even eliminated. It can lower a non-productive time significantly. Also some less ergonomic manual fabrication processes by using this designed tool become more ergonomic for the operator.
