| Summary: | To enhance the vitality of metro station areas and support station area development and optimisation, this study investigates 284 metro stations in Guangzhou. Utilising Weibo check-in data to measure station area vitality, the study selected 10 built environment indicators across three dimensions. An XGBoost model was trained and validated to analyse the association between station area vitality and built environment factors. SHAP was applied to interpret this relationship, examining the influence of built environment factors, feature feedback, and interaction effects. Results indicate that, compared to other models, the XGBoost model best analyzes the association between metro station area vitality and built environment factors. Intersection density, public facility density, and enterprise density significantly impact station area vitality. All indicators, except public facility density, exhibit a nonlinear association with station vitality, and several indicators–such as public facility density, building density, and enterprise density – show clear threshold effects. Based on these findings, this study proposes station area built environment optimization strategies to promote metro station area vitality. |
