Description
Summary:This article aims to present the defining traits of the new settings of work and its impacts on the lives of workers. Globalization of economy and productive restructuring have revolutionized the worlds of work, which attended the dismantling national and international labor markets and saw new working relationships emerge and consolidate - outsourcing, temporary work contracts, part-time work, work from home, banked hours, service contracts - and new professional skills that caused significant repercussions on the union movement and workers' life. The considerations developed here result from analysis of a large number of studies of the Social Sciences, especially in the area of Sociology of Work, and from research conducted and directed by the author over the last twenty years. They are studies and research whose fundamental characteristic is the consensus among the authors about the specificities and social repercussions of new configurations of the worlds of work, reason enough to assign them scientific expression.
