description This work presents a technical and economic feasibility assessment of a photovoltaic (PV)-wind hybrid charging station located in the South Bronx, New York, with a 100-kW demand. The study evaluates the technical requirements for sizing the hybrid system, including determining the appropriate capacity of solar PV panels, wind turbines, and battery storage to meet the energy demand of the charging station. The analysis also explores the economic feasibility by considering key financial parameters such as capital costs, operation and maintenance (O&M) costs, system efficiency, and the system’s lifetime. A financial model is developed to estimate the costs, payback period, and overall economic viability, incorporating sensitivity analysis on the Net Present Value (NPV) and Return on Investment (ROI). Environmental impact metrics, including carbon emission reduction, energy efficiency gains, renewable energy utilization, and air quality improvement, are also examined to assess the broader environmental benefits of the hybrid system. The study highlights the potential of renewable energy-based charging stations in urban areas, providing valuable insights into the technical, economic, and environmental aspects of hybrid energy systems for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
