Summary:This study analyses the behaviour of users in the Republic of Moldova regarding the use of cashless payment instruments. Based on a survey of a representative sample of 1,095 people, the paper explores consumer preferences according to demographic variables such as gender, age and income level. The study highlights the main barriers and motivations for the adoption of cashless payments, as well as current trends in the use of digital payment technologies. The conclusions suggest that the digitalization of the payment system in the Republic of Moldova is on the rise, but challenges persist among older age groups and those with low incomes.
