description This essay aims to examine the re-imagining of the Orient in Patrick Leigh Fermor’s works: Between the Woods and the Water and The Broken Road, arguing and commenting on the definition of the Orient between the interwar period of Europe. Moreover, the idea of orientalism is to be discussed and handled in light of the concept of frontier orientalism, especially concerning Leigh Fermor’s remarks on Central and Eastern European countries. Additionally, I will examine the concept of nostalgia in Leigh Fermor’s work in an inquisitive manner, commenting on Leigh Fermor’s nostalgia as well as its features. Nostalgia in the said works is to be discussed as a concept reflecting the romantic past while creating a stepping-stone for those regions.
