| description | Analysis of the evolution of the public discourse on Islamic banking in Iran since 1979 is of special importance for understanding the role of the religious reference in training for and adherence to the paradigm of a religious economy. It is noted that the Iranian debate on the subject is organized in terms of an ethics of conviction and an ethics of responsibility – assumed to be contradictory in the Weberian world view – according to criteria variable in both nature and intensity such as religious legitimacy, economic efficiency, the nationalistic identity ... Further, the rigidity assumption which is often imputed to discursive references of a religious nature, does not bear examination: it adapts and calibrates circumstances in what can only be qualified as a complex equation involving data which is both endemic and exogenous to the domestic debate. This article examines trends observable in Iran in this area, especially over the last decade (2005-2014). |
