Description
Summary:The state of cities in the last millennium is about to collapse. The accumulated environmental problems became more comprehensive, inevitable and more difficult than any that had ever existed. Cities have become the biggest consumers and therefore the biggest polluters of the environment. This was influenced by many factors: population migrations, exponential population growth, massive food production and exponential growth of industrial production. As a result, there is a large concentration of harmful particles in the water and air, the amount of waste that has nowhere to be stored, the appearance of the greenhouse effect, soil degradation, etc. The goal of the research is to demonstrate the necessity of applying the concept of sustainable development in cities. The methods we used in the work are: analysis and synthesis. The results of the research show us that it is possible to apply the concept of sustainable development if a certain strategy for their application is applied. The strategy consists in the concentration of people, funds and capacities for the transition to the green economy.
