Evaluation of the Pile Group Response for Machine Foundation under Cyclic Load in Sandy Soil

In this paper, two types of loads have been applied at the same time, the first one was one-way cyclic, and the second was dynamic load from the machine. These loads are applied in a group of piles of (2x2) with the spacing of S/D= 3, 5 and 7. Closed to practical situations, the loads are applied s...

description In this paper, two types of loads have been applied at the same time, the first one was one-way cyclic, and the second was dynamic load from the machine. These loads are applied in a group of piles of (2x2) with the spacing of S/D= 3, 5 and 7. Closed to practical situations, the loads are applied simultaneously at frequency rates of (15, 20, and 25HZ) for dynamic load and different rates of cyclic loading of (0.6, 0.8, and 1) calculated from critical load rate CLR. These parameters have been used. The relative density of sand is 70%. The machine load can reduce the lateral pile displacement, especially in case of large spacing. In addition, the increase of CLR usually influenced pile group performance, and the displacement rise up to 75% for closed-spaced piles.
