Summary:The objectives of this paper were to develop and evaluate a pneumatic roof-windows system for multispan plastic greenhouses. According to the cost-saving principle and operating requirements, performing mechanism, linkers and controllers in the system were selected. The equipment initial investment, general electricity energy cost and run effect of the system were compared with a traditional gear-rack mechanism system. Results showed that the pneumatic roof-windows system helped to improve the capability of ventilation and temperature dropping, decrease the energy cost, and increase the economic effects.
