| Summary: | From their split in December 1920 to their short-lived reunion from 1934 onwards, French Socialists and Communists have been intimately connected by the pattern of treason. This pattern was incorporated in their political identities, and it was used for political militancy. However, treason had different aspects depending on when, on where and by whom, it was used. This article intends to portray treason, a notion that excludes but, in the meantime, that include the traitor in one’s political universe. In addition, this article analyses the different forms and functions that treason had, and that can be spotted in ideas, in sayings, and in actions |
