Simon J. Clark

Clark in 2022 Simon J. Clark is a British protein biochemist, immunologist, and academic, most known for the study of the complement system. He is the holder of the Helmut Ecker Endowed Professorship in Age-related Macular Degeneration at the University of Tübingen, Germany, where he is the head of the Clark Lab that studies the molecular mechanisms driving ocular disease. He is an honorary professor at the University of Manchester, UK, and is a co-founder of Complement Therapeutics.

Clark's research focuses on the complement system, with an emphasis on the role of the extracellular matrix in regulating immunity and inflammation, particularly in ocular health and the blinding disease age-related macular degeneration.
