Scott M. Grundy

Scott M. Grundy, M.D., Ph.D. (1933–2025) was an American physician and researcher and a leading authority in cardiovascular medicine and nutrition science. He is widely recognized for his pioneering research on cholesterol metabolism and his role in shaping national and international guidelines for the prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Grundy’s work helped establish the central role of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, also known as “bad” cholesterol, in heart disease and contributed to the development and clinical use of statins.
