| Summary: | Os grupos indígenas pré-coloniais que ocuparam a região da Lagoa Gaíba, na borda oeste do Pantanal, deixaram registros rupestres que sugerem dois momentos de representações dos grafismos definidos como Momento de Representação Naturalista e Momento de Representação Geométrica. Esses momentos foram caracterizados a partir dos procedimentos técnicos na confecção dos grafismos, na apresentação gráfica e nos temas abordados. A construção dos signos zoomorfos, antropomorfos e geométricos revelaram uma forte habilidade manual nas representações dos animais e um poder de abstração e de invenção na construção e na associação dos grafismos geométricos. São representações autóctones, que têm uma importância no universo gráfico do grupo e são símbolos compartilhados por grupos de pessoas que se identificam como parceiros de uma mesma história e representam informações construídas ao longo do tempo.
ABSTRACT
The pre-colonial indigenous groups who occupied the region of Lake Gaiba, on the western edge of the Pantanal, left rock arts suggestive of two instances of representations of the artwork, defined as the time of the Naturalistic Representation and the time of the Geometric Representation. These moments were characterized by the technical procedures used in the preparation of the artwork, the graphic presentation and the topics covered. The construction of zoomorphic, anthropomorphous and geometric signs revealed a strong manual dexterity in the representations of animals and a power of abstraction and invention in the construction and combination of geometric graphics. These indigenous representations were important in the graphic universe of the group and are symbols shared by people who identify themselves as partners of the same history and recover information constructed over a long time.
